Walk with us in the Seven Heads Peninsula

Sunday 26th of June sees Irlanda Italiana organise another walking trip!

clon4-1024x768“Walk with us in the Seven Heads Peninsula” promises to be a sociable and leisurely stroll; the walk is a loop that includes woods, cliff/coastal path, open fields, a secluded beach (where those who wish to might swim) and quiet country roads.

Here are the details for our planned walk.

Sunday morning, 26th of June

Meeting outside Cork City Library at 9:45am.

Leaving Cork City Library and driving in the direction of the Seven Heads Peninsula at 10 sharp.

Upon reaching our destination we will meet in Courtmacsherry car park at 11:00am.

Our walk starts from Courtmacsherry at 11. 15am and we ask all members to heed the instructions of our guide and Irlanda Italiana member Stephen Daunt, at all times, but particularly at the beginning of the walk.

The 3-hour-estimated duration of this walk is inclusive of a planned lunch break. We will take our lunch break in the “Blind Strand” an unfrequented beach where those who wish to might also swim; so we ask all participants to bring snacks and drinks for themselves and possibly their swim gear.

Boots are not necessary because we will be mostly using paths and roads but suitable walking shoes/trainers are recommended.

Please remember that Seven Head Peninsula is in Ireland – Bring Rain Gear!

If you require a lift or can offer a lift please email Irlanda Italiana at

If you wish to travel direct to Courtmacsherry and you need precise directions, let us know and we will send you a detailed email with directions.

At the end of the walk we will stop in “The Golden Pheasant” a very pleasant and slightly quirky café; it serves teas, coffees, cakes, sandwiches, ice-creams and it has an aviary containing some owls and a golden and a silver pheasant.

Finally, although the route is a much used, safe and accessible route and although we will have our own group guide walking the course with us, a certain level of fitness is required by anyone hoping to participate. All individuals (members or not), choosing to walk with Irlanda Italiana at this event do so at their own risk.
