Let’s make Ireland more Italian by voting this “Italian style” squares in Clonakilty!

Clonakilty 400 urban design master plan, a visionary project which transformed a town park into an attractive community space in one of West Cork’s prettiest towns, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award, a prize in the Urban Design Master Plan category of the Irish Architecture Awards.

The Clonakilty 400 Project revitalised Emmet Square and Astna Square. The Architects Department of Cork County Council is inviting all of us to support their project and to vote for the “People Choice Award”.

About Giulia Vallone

Sicilian-born Giulia Vallone graduated in the University of Palermo- Italy in 2000. She moved to Dublin in the same year where she worked with Scott Tallon Walker Architects first and Dublin City Council in the role of Project Architect for high density residential developments and urban design projects. In 2005 she joined the Architects Dept of Cork County Council. She became a Registered Architect and member of the RIAI in 2007. Giulia is currently Senior Executive Architect in Cork County Council, where she is involved in public works including residential design, public buildings and townscape design. She is acting Town Architect for Macroom, Clonakilty and Mallow, where she is working with public representatives and local officials on the town development plans, master plans to guide development and growth, as well as dealing with planning applications. Giulia is member of the Academy of Urbanism since 2011. 



CLONAKILTY 400 URBAN DESIGN MASTERPLAN e’ un progetto di riqualificazione urbana del centro storico di Clonakilty (2000 abitanti) nel west dell’ Irlanda progettato secondo i principi del nuovo urbanismo contemporaneo di scuola danese che include concetti di “shared surface” and “naked street”.
