on Sunday the 8th of June from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm in one of the most beautiful, old fashioned pubs in Cork, with a 35-seater cinema upstairs- The Beggarman Pub on 14 Gillabbey Street in Cork City (between St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral and UCC).

The “AperiCinema”- as the word suggests- will give you the chance to enjoy an Italian comedy-drama (with English subtitles) “Pranzo di Ferragosto – Mid-August Lunch”. This will be followed by some genuine and tasty homemade Italian food provided by PizzAmore.


Cost is €15 for Irlanda Italiana members and €20 for non-members. New members are welcome to join our association on the day to avail of this offer and other special events in the coming months. Price includes a glass of wine or a soft drink. Booking is essential as spaces are limited.

About the film

“Pranzo di Ferragosto” by Italian actor and screenwriter Gianni Di Gregorio, won the Grand Prix Award and the Audience Award at the International Film Festival Bratislava and also won the FIPRESCI Award. It was awarded the “Luigi De Laurentiis” Award for a First Feature Film at the 65th Venice Film Festival in 2008. Additionally, it won awards at several other film festivals including the David Di Donatello Awards, the Satyajit Ray Award at the London Film Festival, and the Golden Snail award at the Academy of Food and Film in Bologna.
