The Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin is hosting a rich and interesting calendar of events to celebrate the 13th “Italian Language in the World” week 14-20 October 2013.

The Department of Italian at University College Cork, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, Dublin is hosting a two-day international conference dedicated to the legacy and multifaceted narrative poetics of Vincenzo Consolo. Recent years have seen a marked increase in scholarly and critical approaches to Consolo’s oeuvre, especially in Italy, Spain and the United States. Vincenzo Consolo nel crocevia mediterraneo: saperi permeabili, lingue comunicanti seeks to reflect the growing critical engagement with Consolo’s texts from diverse methodological and theoretical perspectives. Papers will examine different aspects of his poetics, including the linguistic, narratological, stylistic and ethical dimensions, as well as notions of transmission and translation.
